TE TAUMATA is Crescendo’s Advanced Programmes for youth that have demonstrated strong foundational skills by completing Crescendo’s Foundational and Intermediate programmes or have gained experience through other similar music production or audio engineering programmes.
To be selected for an advanced program, you must also demonstrate the ability and drive to work independently on projects.
Te Taumata - Advanced Music Programmes:

If you're an artist or just someone wanting to increase your sound engineering skills this is an awesome way. I really felt cared for by everyone while also learning these skills. I'm able to now put into action all these new skills and apply to future jobs as well.
- Peyton
What I didn't expect was an actual process/tutorial into becoming an artist. Starting from the beat, to lyrics, to vocals, to the mix/master, straight into developing a EPK and publishing my first track.
- Sonny
I improved so much and feel so confident in talking about how I mix and master now. I would especially vouch for young wāhine, who may feel intimidated by a male dominated industry but want to get into this side of the industry, to take this. You get hands-on experience and a push in your confidence of your abilities while learning in a safe space.

Our Advanced Programmes Mentor:
David Atai
Music Production Mentor
Over the past 20 years, David has built a dynamic career in music as a guitarist, music producer, songwriter, audio engineer and performing artist. Along the way, he's had the chance to perform globally, work with some of the best musicians and engineers and receive numerous awards. At Crescendo, David brings his two decades of experience to support the next generation of musicians. Crescendo offers him the opportunity to not only share his skills but also continue to grow alongside those he mentors. He empowers rangatahi to explore their creative journeys, encouraging them to dive into every aspect of their craft, just as he did. When he’s not making music, you’ll find him driving — another form of self-expression that keeps him grounded.
